OUR THEME

"NOTHING MORE TO PROVE"

Co-Chairperson, NABMW 2008 Reunion

LTC(RET) Patricia Jackson-Kelley

Chairperson, NABMW 2008 Reunion

OUR 2008 Reunion Theme is

 "Nothing More to Prove"

We chose this theme because it tells us that the proof is (already) in the pudding.  Just think about it.

  • They said we couldn’t serve beside, with or over male or white soldiers.

                                  “But we did!"

  • They said we couldn’t lead or command troops

                                "But we did!"

  • They said we couldn't jump out of an airplane

                                "And we did!"

  • They said we couldn't fly an aircraft, steer a ship,. drive trucks, maintain equipment,........ or be in combat.

                                   “We did!”

  AND.....................

  • They said we couldn’t be a mother, a wife and a soldier--at the same time.

They said.......They said .......They said....

"But we did and "WE STILL ARE!!”

We continue to find out about those who served before us as well as the younger heroines of today. We are so pleased that these younger sister soldiers are continuing to affirm our worth by creating a worthy legacy of their own while still leaving the door open for further achievements.  Ask yourself these questions.  When the job is done, did I do a good job or was it done just to” prove" that I could?  Remember, we can only live in the present.  We cannot predict what the next sister solder’s challenges will be, what they will do and/or what they will say.  But it is very important to continually ask yourself, "Now that I have done this to the best of my ability, did I do it well?  And your answer should beYes I did it well and I have  "Nothing More To Prove".

JOIN US !  JOIN US!  JOIN US!  JOIN US!

Greetings Sister Soldiers, Family, and Friends:

It’s that time again. Two years have passed since our last reunion in Kansas City, Kansas.   For the past 28 years, we have been meeting throughout the United States, meeting new and old friends, telling stories of the past and present, and honoring those who have gone before us.  It is now time for us to "CELEBRATE A JOB WELL DONE" and to say I have "NOTHING MORE TO PROVE".

The NABMW Reunion 2008 Planning Committee is delighted to announce the NABMW 16th BIENNIAL REUNION at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada during September 28 - October 3, 2008.  The Riviera Hotel and Casino is located on the south end of the strip directly across from the Circus-Circus Hotel and Casino.  It is located 10-15 minutes from the McCarren International Airport.  Las Vegas is filled with things to do and places to go for all ages.  It is the city that never sleeps. We are planning a host of activities for the reunion. We know that you will join in the fun and excitement of the "2008" Reunion.  So ladies come join us (with your family and friends) in Las Vegas.  We are inviting every female who have served, every family of every female who have served our country and friend of every female who have served our country to come on down to the place where there is fun every one regardless of age. Bring a fellow sister soldier with you.  Let’s celebrate – A job well done.

NABMW Souvenir Journal

The NABMW Year 2008 "16th Biennial Reunion" Souvenir Journal” will be an historical artifact.  Since l978, our Reunion Journals have chronicled the story of the growth and development of our association.  We want to continue this tradition.  It is very important to record our progress and “Tell the story” of Black Military Women.  We would like each NABMW member to commit herself/himself to filling one full-page AD in this very important historical document.  “YOU" are a significant part of this nation's military history.”

Volunteers are needed

As you know one person cannot do it all.  We need your help in assisting us in the following areas:  Hospitality, Registration, Journal, Transportation, Banquet, and Special Events. We are over 400 strong in membership (and growing) and we need help in planning and executing in every area.  We know we have folks who have experience in all of these areas or just want to be actively involved.  So if you are one of those folks, please sign up for one of the committees and the Committee chairperson will contact you.
