NABMW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The National Association of Black Military Women's mission is to seek out, record and tell the history of Black Military Women who have served and are serving in th United States Armed Forces. We know there are thousands of Black Military Women who have served in the military and no one knows about these women. They are in every community and are a part of many black family's history and heritage. As part of our objectives to tell the story of these women and to educate our young about our history, we would like our young folks to help us seek out a Black Military Woman in their communities or families and write an essay about that person's military history.

NABMW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

1. The “National Association of Black Military Women” (NABMW), are currently accepting applications for scholarship(s) for the current academic year.

2. The scholarship amount is $500.00. There will be a minimum of four(4) scholarships awarded.

3. Applicants must be:

A. Sponsored by a current member of the National Association of Black Military Women.

B. A citizen of the United States Of America.

C. A graduating high school Senior, with a “C+” average or above.

4. The deadline for applications to be received is February 28, of every year.

5. Students interested in applying, may:

We know there are thousands of Black Women who have served or are serving in the United States Armed Forces. They are in every community and are a part of many Black family's history and heritage. However, little of their service is known to the average American or written in our history books. We have found that our scholarship project has encouraged an increasing number of young people to become aware of the important contribution that African American women have made to our country in the various military services. As our young candidates seek out military women in their local communities and report their findings to the NABMW, they not only gain historical knowledge but they share this history with family and friends. This process has helped support our efforts to gather information on Black Military Women where our message is not heard. Every young adult needs a "Helping Hand, if it's only to assist in getting books and supplies for college. That's all they need is a "Helping Hand" from to us to reach their goals in life. Help us to help them!! ************************************************************************************ Special “NAMED” scholarships may be established (with the approval of the NABMW Executive Committee) in honor of a specific person, group, organization etc. A minimum $1,000 per scholarship is required and may be increased by $250.00 increments.
